About CAIPS/GCMS Notes
CAIPS (Computer Assisted Immigration Processing System), now known as GCMS (Global Case Management System) is a integrated worldwide electronic data for all the application process by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada). GCMS contains entire information in electronic form pertaining to all the applications processed inside and outside Canada. It includes record of all visa applications including Visa Officer Notes, current status of application, documents submitted, pending documents and reason for refusals (if applicable) etc.
Need for CAIPS/GCMS Notes:
Applicants who have applied for Visa, whose application is in process or those who want to re-apply (after refusal) for any kind of Visa for Canada can apply for CAIPS/GCMS Notes. The broad reasons for notes requirements may include:
- Visa application is refused by IRCC and applicant wants to know the reasons for refusal to address them in re-submission
- You have been called for an interview by IRCC or Canadian High Commission in applicant’s country
- To know the present status of application
- There is an inordinate delay in processing of your application
- You have been asked to submit additional documents for processing of your application
Types of applications for which CAIPS/GCMS Notes may be requested:
The application may include, but not limited to:
- Visitor Visa or Temporary Resident Visa
- Student Visa / Study Permit
- Work Permit
- Permanent Residence
- Family Sponsorship
- Business / Entrepreneur Visa etc.
Processing Time:
It usually takes around 30 Business days by IRCC to process and send the notes. But, sometimes, due to heavy volume and requests, IRCC may take longer time to process the request.
